Description

Lisle-Metrix pH probes stay "on-line' and provide accurate measurements under conditions that often render conventional pH probes inoperable. The secret is in the differential measurement technique.

The P6OC-3 incorporates all the advantages of differential measurement found in all models of the P60 series field proven in hundreds of installations. This technique uses two glass electrodes to make the measurement differentially with respect to a third metal electrode. One of the electrodes is in the process and the second one is immersed in a pH7 buffer encapsulated in the probe. This second electrode is protected from the process by a double junction replaceable salt bridge. The resulting true differential measurement has several advantages over conventional probes: ground loop problems are virtually eliminated, probe fouling has little or no effect and dilution of the standard buffer solution can be tolerated easily. In fact, a 100-1 dilution will cause a shift of only 0.05 pH whereas the same dilution of a conventional probe will cause a shift of 2 pH!

Even if the internal solution becomes contaminated the probe can be rejuvenated at modest cost by replacing the salt bridge and solution. An exposed thermistor at the tip of the probe provides rapid response for automatic compensation for process temperature variations. One model suits both flow-through and submersion tank mount applications.

Another advantage of this probe is the flat face, which is more easily cleaned and avoids solution materials gathering on protrusions found in competitive probes. The domed glass electrode, the protective metal electrode and the temperature sensor protrude about 1/8 inch while the salt bridge is flush.

The encapsulated preamplifier provides an output signal, which can be transmitted 3000 feet over inexpensive cable. Lisle-Metrix pH and ORP probes can be relied upon to provide accurate measurements and stay in service longer under the most demanding conditions. Differential measurement is the secret.
