Ultraviolet TOC Reduction Series Our equipment is designed for use in water purification systems to reduce the Total Organic Carbon content in the final product and/or reclaim water. To bring the effluent to acceptable specifications, the ultraviolet oxidizer exposes it to a combination of both the 185nm and 254nm wave lengths. The 185nm light reacts directly with organic carbon compounds to break them down by photo-oxidation and to convert them primarily to CO2. The 254 nanometer (nm) wavelength destroys or inactivates DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid, which is altered as it absorbs the ultraviolet radiation) Ideal Horizons designs TOC reduction units to provide minimum dosages ranging from 90,000 - 400,000 microwatt seconds per square centimeter and above—at the end of lamp life (EOL).
