Safe Water Technologies residential water treatment
systems utilize ProSoft & ProSelect Resins as the
primary functioning layers. These cationic exchange units are designed to
remove calcium and magnesium (hardness), are available with nitrate, chlorine,
and tannin removal capabilities also. Available with the newest in computer
monitoring technology for maximized efficiency. SWT takes care of the little
extras such as: bolted on bases for ease of carrying, built in by-pass valves,
tank jackets, spear style riser, oversized brine tanks, an anthracite
under-bedding to prevent channeling, and optional brine refill safety
floats.

| Notes: All softeners for municipal water systems come with an upper screen as standard equipment. Upper screens are available on all units on request . All units come with bypass valves with 3/4 copper tube installation fittings as standard. Other installation fittings are available on request. Resin ratings are as follows:
|
In basic terms, crosslinkage refers to the
resin beads physical strength or ability to withstand chemical attack from
chlorine, resin bed cleaners, and caustics used in DI applications. To a lesser
extent, a higher crosslink also gives resin slightly higher softening capacity
and a better affinity for iron. Almost all standard softening resins in the
market range from 6.5% to 8% crosslink. If the water softener is on a
chlorinated system, or sitting outside where high temperatures can weaken
resin, then lower crosslink resins have a tendency to breakdown, lose capacity,
and turn mushy over time . Generally speaking, the higher the crosslink, the
better (and more expensive) the resin. 10% crosslink resins are generally too
expensive for residential use and are found in mostly DI and industrial
applications. Fine mesh resins, which are smaller than standard size resin beads, slightly increase the softeners capacity, speed up softening reaction time, and increases the ability to filter fine particles from the water supply. These are good for dual bed systems because they help retain the smaller, lighter anion resin beads on the top layer. They are also popular in cabinet style water softeners with shallower resin beds. All dual bed systems require, and are automatically supplied with, a slightly larger diameter pressure tank. Salt usage does not change in dual bed systems vs. single bed systems. |
